If you've been looking into the wondrous world of electric bikes, you've probably heard of the Bosch CX Generation 4 Motor which was released last year and is included in our award winning Haibike range.

The exciting news is that Bosch have promised to begin a new era for eMountain Bikers with their brand new updated edition set to bring cycling on the trail to a whole new level. It's going to have everything you know and love from the original motor but condensed into a compact, lightweight model (only 2.9kg) with even more power (a whopping 85 Nm of torque)... what's not to like?

The logistics of a motor can be a bit difficult to get your head around, especially if you're just beginning your eBike journey so we've broken down everything you need to know about this futuristic new update.

More Torque:

Bosch have outdone themselves and made their updated motor more powerful than ever before. The original torque of 75Nm has been increased to 85Nm and while this may seem like a small change, it makes a huge difference to your eBike experience. You'll find yourself accelerating faster and instantly, effortlessly completing the steepest of up hill starts so you have more power whenever you need it.

Extended Boost:

The extended boost function allows you to be in control, adapting to negotiate exposed roots, steps and stones with ease, even uphill, giving you increased agility on even the most technically demanding of trails. It will give you the extra boost you need, on demand, adjusting and giving you an additional surge of power. This means that if you're in a technical situation where you can't rotate your cranks fully and you only have a fraction of movement, you can kick down the pedal and the motor will boost, allowing you to stop pedalling and you will roll over obstacles with ease.

Perfect Control:

There's no need for you to switch riding modes to be in control while on the trail as the motor responds much more sensitively to the rider's effort, especially in low gears, enabling an extremely sensitive start. You'll get that kick start you need without feeling the impact and you'll find yourself gliding along the trail with pedals that rarely, if ever, jam.

All of this comes together to create the future of eBike motors, when the most difficult of terrains feel smooth and you're effortlessly reaching speeds beyond your expectations of a bike you'll find yourself wondering what you would do without it.

The new update is now standard on all new Bosch CX Generation 4 Motors from 2021 and is available on all 2020 models as a software update. Contact us for more information.
